Planetarium Press

Beyond

Within

Planetarium Press is a small independent press in North Adams, MA, publishing work that looks both beyond and within.

The name pays homage to the two skylights in my home, whose upward gaze illuminates both the sun and moon as the earth spins on its axis, alongside visitations from curious birds peering back inside.

It’s also in honor of Robert O’Brien, my grandfather, whose dying mission was to create “planetary posts” around the world as communities in service—not to abandon the planet we live on, but to bring humanity together.

The press’ books are hand-bound and made with sustainably sourced materials. Through partnership with The Press at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, works feature both letterpress and risograph.

Everything is small, slow, and DIY. At the moment, the press is closed to submissions from the public.
